My mom used to tickle my face when I was little, and every once in a while I try to bust it out on my kids.

The other night Spe and I were laying down together and I was trying to help him wind down and go to sleep. So I started tickling his face, gently stroking his cheeks, his nose, his chin, his forehead, and his eyes.

"Spe," I say quietly, "I love you."

"Mom." Spencer keeps his eyes closed and I just melt at how cute he looks before he goes to sleep. There's something about kids in pajamas.

"What, honey?"

Spencer whispers, "Leave me alone."

Oh. Well then. I'll just leave now, shall I?

That would bug me beyond measure. When it's sleep time it's sleep time! At least he lets you know how he really feels!

Kids are so cute in pj's!

That is too funny! Spencer is so cute! My mom used to rub my ears to help me get to sleep. Worked everytime.

LOL, in the movies, that's when they'd insert the screeching brakes or record-scratch sound effect.

Don't give up though, another day he might be glad to have you do that for him!

That kid cracks me up. Last week in nursery he takes this flying leap off of a chair (no apparent reason). It freaked me out because he landed on his belly. I picked him up "are you okay? are you okay?" He's like, "Yes, but it was VERRRRRRY scary!" The way he said it was so cute. Love him.

That is so funny! He is such a cute boy! I loved my face being tickled and my back. I have started doing that to Audrey and she loves it! She will make me tickle everywhere, including the bottom of her feet!!

That is something my kid would say to me and probably has. Very funny!

Bitter. But hilarious.

"Mom, leave me alone" - that is great. I mean, probably not at the time but it is so funny.

I thought of you during the news today. There was a story on how drinking crocodile blood is good for you.

Correction: Aligator blood is good for you.

There are moments of joy in motherhood, yes. But why is it that no one ever mentions the harsh moments of absolute and painful rejection?

And I must agree: kids and pajamas ARE a perfect thing in this imperfect world.

There is nothing like the good honesty of a child. Is good honesty an oxymoron? You would know!

Ha! I hate it when my kids reject me. It makes me feel SO DUMB.

Due to the lack of posts entertaining me recently I can only assume you have developed a chronic love of cleaning and that your house is now a sparkling shrine to cleanliness. Come back!!

Heidi, I read this post while down in UT with my fam. I had to read it out loud. While doing so, I was laughing so hard, I just COULD ... NOT ... GET ... THE ... WORDS ... OUT!

Hill-arious!
