Not Hyperbole

So, you probably thought I was being, you know, dramatic when I announced that I look like I'm carrying a Volkswagen instead of a baby. I'll agree there's precedence. But just so you know that I'm not exaggerating, consider this:

This weekend Veevs attended a birthday party at a beauty salon (gag--don't get me started). I drove her there, and just for the record, I was actually dressed (Well, I had on pants AND a coat! You couldn't really tell I was wearing one of Rhett's old shirts, promise!). When we pulled up, she looked at me with cool appraisal and said, "Um, Mom, is it okay if you just drop me off at the front of the store?"

"Well, it's just since you're so big now, it's kind of embarrassing."

Oy vey.

couldn't she have come up with

"I know how uncomfortable it is for you to get out of the car and walk ALL the way up there"

I, too, suffer from the Volkswagen syndrome when pregnant. But it must have seemed bigger to my husband who said, "beep...beep...beep" one day when I backed up. I can only say that it's lucky for him I wasn't holding a knife!

I think it's great that you've taught your daughter the virtue of honesty.

And I share your pain of carrying a load up front. Can't wait to see your little jelly bean. Good luck and take care!

I'm having my baby on Friday and I know the feeling. I am getting looks and comments lately about how I look "so ready" to have this baby. Gee, thanks. As a matter of fact, I am, but I didn't need your acknowledgment!

My first son weight 10.6 pounds when he was born. I looked like I was carrying a mac truck.

I hope you walked in with her. Just think of it as payback for all of the tantrums she may have had in public when she was little.

I wonder if "Anonymous" above is related to that Nigerian prince that keeps emailing me, wanting to send me money.......

She's only six, but you bet I walked in with her. I even held hand with her. Because that's how I roll.

oh cool, I didn't know you had a blog. You are so funny. I haven't seen you in forever.

My sister just gave birth to a volkwagon, 10 lbs 1 oz...whew, I guess she was lucky for that c-section this time.

I had a friend tell my twin boys, when they were about 16, that when I was expecting them, I "looked like a VW bug!" And ya know, he was right!
I had a woman come up to me once and say "please tell me you're due tomorrow!".
I said "okay, I'm due tomorrow." Of course, I still had six loooong weeks to go! ha
I hope you're taking great profile photographs. :)
